Hold the Front Page and Stop the Press: The Standard Lamps have been chosen to open the first four dates of the British leg of 'The Who Hits 50' tour.
Having impressed when they supported Roger Daltrey and Wilko Johnson at the launch of Wilko's 'Going Back Home' tour at The O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire in February, The Standard Lamps are back with Roger again...
Since Shepherds Bush the band have been heavily in demand, supporting - among others - the mighty Norman Watt-Roy, US 'Goddess of Soul' Doña Oxford and Mark Morriss of The Bluetones. The band are also releasing a new album in mid-December.
According to lead singer and guitarist Mike Wilton:
"It was a real honour to be asked to support Wilko and Roger earlier in the year, but supporting The Who on their 50th anniversary tour really is beyond our wildest dreams. The Who have been a massive influence on us in terms of their music and stage presence, and we can't wait to plug in on that first night."
Live dates:
30 November: SSE Hydro, Glasgow, UK2 December: First Direct Arena, Leeds5 December: Capital FM Arena, Nottingham7 December: NIA, Birmingham
